Shashi Borade, Ph.D.

Shashi has over a decade of experience in biotech research. Shashi is the managing partner of BZ Ventures. He is an early investor in multiple biotech companies, including Zura Bio and Tourmaline Bio. As a scientific initiative, Shashi’s team (an international collaboration across statisticians and physicians) was a finalist in the XPRIZE for scaling up Covid testing.

Shashi received his Ph.D. (2008) and S.M. (2004) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT with a Presidential Fellowship. Shashi brings 15 years of experience in the investment industry. He was a Vice President in the statistical arbitrage group at D.E. Shaw & Co. Later he was a Portfolio Manager at Engineers Gate followed by Head of Statistical Arbitrage at Vatic Investments.
